Custom made in the 80's Shadow Box Indian Art Artifacts?

Thank you in advance for any information that could direct us on selling these two amazing pieces! Following is a brief description. Thanks, Teresa

First piece is 4x6 acrylic encased Plains Indian Warrior Shirt, with incredibly accurate beading, fringe and horsehair. This piece is ornately detailed and absolutely stunning.

Second piece is an array of weapons and hunting tools used by the Indians, including spear, stone hatchet, Bow, arrows and quivers and breastplate. All are adorned with leather fringe, feathers of several american birds........

The pieces were created by an artist, commission by a designer for a Vintage Club Developer. The pieces were encased in the mid 80's and the consensus from a couple of art dealers in the area that the shirt was probably made in the late 50's. The weapons probably have some actual historic value. The weapons display is 5x7. Both are in pristine condition, museum quality art creations. Approx cost to create.........22,000-24,000 dollars.[/i

Re: Custom made in the 80's Shadow Box Indian Art Artifacts?

I agree that they are beautiful pieces of art. Check out the bead workand find which tribe used the symbols and colors of bead in each of the pieces. Another consideration is do you think they are worth it? I have seen pieces made like those that were replicas in antique shops around the country, the real pieces would be worth the money and hopefully yours are....goat

Take them to a reputable auction house. They'll let you know the approximate value better than most anyone.

Cool. I guess if you had heard about Indians, saw some movies, and wanted to be one, this would be the thing to buy. If you're representing this as Indian Art Artifacts, who's the artist, and what is the tribal affiliation? And sorry, it's not anything I would associate with bein the real deal.

It might be nice for a collector to fill a void in a collection until he can find the real deal. But to me that would be about it. Realism counts but authenticity rules. Items like that from mid to late 1800s you'ld be looking at an easy half a million.

Thanks so much for your replies. If anyone knows a good auction house in the P.S.; Area that would be great to know. I would love for them to be real but also do not think so. They were designed by a designer by the name of Terry Henderson for a home in the Vintage Country Club (where Bill Gates owns a home locally).. Now Terry would at times use the real deal and affordability for the owners of the home would not have been an issue but I cannot say for sure. Thanks for your input!!
