CW Calvary Camp Site

Hello All, I found this item in my oldest sons yard about three feet from a keppi buckel at the same depth. I have hunted this area very hard over the past year and found many relics from the civil war. Talking to one of the neighbors I have been informed his yard was a winter camp of a US calvery, This item has me stumped looks a bit post dated for that era. Any help would be great.
