Ya-hoooooooooooooooooooooooo!!! I may have found a CW hot spot on the 164 acre farm property I'm searching. Just two days ago I found my 1st 3-ringer bullet and B & B brass button. This was my original link:
http://forum.treasurenet.com/index.php/topic,67303.0.html

Today after work, I went back to the same spot and found my 2nd brass button within 30 feet of the first one. This button says "Scovills Extra Superfine" on the back. I haven't had time to look this one up yet, so hopefully it was a decent find. It has nothing on the front of it.
Within about a 40 foot radius, I also found : a small lead ball, a chunk of lead, an unknown metal piece that has the shape of a wolf head, and a long iron piece with a loop at the end.
Any info on these items would be greatly appreciated.
Perhaps I have stumbled on a camp or skirmish site? At least that's what I'm hoping at this point. It only took me about an hour to find these new items.
I have included pictures of my finds and the area I'm searching. In one of the pictures you can see my shovel in todays button hole, and my trowel in the background is marking the location that I found the 3-ringer by the Oak tree.
The picture of the items on the large rock, are some "brown gold" that I have dug up on this farm property over the last few weeks.
A very exciting afternoon for me, that's for sure.
Have a great w/end.

MM!!!!! Way to go! I love watching you enjoy your finds so much!!! Post your Scovills button in the "What is It" forum and someone will help with that... it's a quality civilian button.

I'm not sure you have CW relics, but I know I would detect the living heck out of that site!!! That looks like an awesome place and I am dying to see what else come from the ground there!!! :o

Love it! I'd come and help ya if I lived in NC! ;D

whats on the shell casing for a headstamp? Does it say anything?

It has a letter "U" on it. Any idea what that is? I'm sure it is modern, of course.
Thanks,
MM

Thanks Nana.
I'm like a kid in a candy store when I'm out there. My family thinks I'm nuts when I come home with these things. I guess they want me to find an IPOD or a 42" TV instead? ???
Even if these artifacts weren't in the actual war, they sure are interesting finds. I'm glad they have been so close in distance to each other. I would love to dig up a buckle or an 1800's coin sometime.
Ya-hooooooooo.

I could dig that stuff all day MM...wouldn't hurt my feeling's at all.Excellent dig's and best of luck in the future...

Great job MM!

That seems to be the trick with farm properties. First you need to find the "hot spots" as you call them.

Then carefully detect those spots and pull everything out. Just a reminder. Don't toss anything.

I hope you find a nice buckle or some coins. Those buttons are very cool though. I'd be happy as hell to find one
of those.
Keep going and good luck! ;)

Nice group of relics and a nice hunting area. The ball looks like a musketball, the little chunk looks like camp lead. I would hit that spot very hard and dig every signal you get.Good luck!

Thanks for the info Guys.
I have to learn patience when hunting in "all metal" mode. I don't know how some of you can do that. It drives me nuts to dig a crater sized hole, just to find a rusty old nail, or scrap of foil. I've been kicking over to "all metal" mode only when my normal search setting loses the target. I must say though, that "all metal" mode sure does find the objects!
I really need to invest in a pinpointer soon.
Thanks,
MM

Sweet finds!!! The long iron piece with the loop is for driving into the ground and tying horses to.
Dano.

Very nice finds. I have a question though. What is the shiny round disc in the next to last pic?
Thanks.

DirtyDude is correct. It was a lid with a porcelain liner. Way to ID Dude.
All the others are "brown gold", which I am willing to sell at the going rate. YOU pay shipping though. Any takers? ;D

cc the long flat piece with ring

although it could be used to picket a horse. Most groups used to use a picket line (rope between two trees) like I said it could have been used in that way or even as a tent stake more then likely it had multi uses
anyone that has a horse will tell u never teather a horse to the ground because he will wrap the line or rains around his leg the same never tie a horse to a pole without a break away halter
if theres a way for a horse to injure himself he'll find a way LOL!!!!!!
