"Daddy, I bet that's from the olden days"
I have been finding plenty of clad in the last few weeks. I take my youngest 2 boys fishing and while they fish, I hunt the surrounding area. Like I said, plenty of clad to go around. Like usual, when we get home the boys want to play with the Ace in our yard. I encourage it and they get bored pretty quick so I take over and hunt with them, we usually find a few coins. Last night was no exception, took them fishing in the A.M. and when we got home the youngest wanted to "metal detect". I hung around him until he got bored and I took over. I was glad I did too. We found two wheaties, a '47 and a '58 and I was plenty happy with that but as I have been told, where there's wheat theres silver, so I kept hunting. I got a deep nickel signal once and then every other time i tried to locate it the signal came back like it was a nail or something. Well, that first coin signal was enough to get me to dig!! At 6" out popped a 1916 IH, buffalo nickel!!!!! In my own yard no less. I am going to stop looking anywhere else and just excavate my yard
What were these nickels made out of? It's tarnished like some of the newer dimes I have found in my yard. The date is very worn but the rest of the coin is is pretty good shape. Thank's for looking and HH.
