dalton or plainview?

iv'e posted this point b4,would like more feed back on it,want kind of chert is it made out of,it is beveled and the base and sides are ground.i found it in a creek in march,im from missouri

It's a dalton and it's made from Winterset Chert. The bevelling is pretty much a dead giveaway for a Dalton.

r those flute channels or thinning strikes, how commom is it for a dalton to have these?

Those are basal thinning strikes. It's pretty common for daltons and lots of other types. I've seen doves and hardins with thinned bases. Flutes are quite a bit different and took much more preperation before being knapped. Basal thinning was done to improve hafting and keep the strength in the stick.

Very nice find by the way. You don't see too many Winterset daltons floating around.
