Yessir, tannic acid water. In some places, the visibility is really bad just because of the tint in the water. Tannins are a result of all the vegetation breaking down in the water. In the spot where several of mine were found, there are gravel beds and every rock looks mostly the same color wise. It looks orange-ish. I have to train my eyes and fingers to shape instead of color. Some of the materials I've found will let the stain be cleaned off and the more porous materials pretty much keep the reddish-orange. This one has a dark chocolate look because it started out dark.

I have thought it as Santa Fe. I tried to compare found examples available and to me it looks more Santa Fe. I think what holds me back is the edge. Compared to what you see as serrated points posted around, I think of serrations as being a little more pronounced. The workmanship on the edge here and the material they had to use made it really fine work and it does leave what could be construed as a serrated edge. I'm just not sure it was intentional if that makes sense. I'm willing to learn from the experts on this.

Not the brackishness, but the tannins in the water that stain the points over time.

Well, there have been some changes in opinion since the 70s on where both the Tallahassee and the Santa Fe points fit in time. Both of these were originally thought to be much earlier. I'd like to hear a more detailed explanation of why it is one over the other. If you base it on serration over other features, please explain why. I'd like to improve my knowledge on it. I know there are key things missing to do it scientifically.

4.6mm Thick

21.8 mm wide

1,5 mm basal Concavity

Mine lacks any squaring at the base.

If you have an Overstreet guide, lookup the descriptions of the Tallahassee and the Santa Fe in the Gulf Coastal section. I can't locate one online right away or I'd send you a link. I have the 9th Edition hardcopy so if you can't find this, I'll try and snap a couple of pics that are readable and post them here.

Although small they are intentional serrations.not accidental edgework..look at the edge under a magnifying glass.

Yes and depending on which publication you believe, Overstreet has them exactly contemporaneous with each other.
