I found 2 coins at the coinstar machine recently. One is a quarter with interesting damage, I've never seen another quite like it. The other is a 2 cent piece from Cyprus.
Most of the center of the obverse of the quarter is very smooth, not quite mirror-like. All the letters around the edge are still there, but inside that is totally flattened down. On the reverse, all around the edge is flattened, along with a portion of the center. Also, the reeded edge looks like it was machined off, leaving sharp edges all around both sides. Has anyone seen something like this before? Maybe just someone practicing machining?
Thanks for looking, and happy hunting!
