Well I decided to take today off last week so I could get some quality me time in then this pesky nor’easter comes along and the DC metro area comes to a stop, we do the same thing for a snow flake. Well with over 20 years at sea and having living in the highlands of Scotland for 2 1/2 years I was not going to allow a blustery day ruin my plan. Though I am not risk averse I felt it would be better to detect in the open areas of a nearby elementary school as to ensure I stayed clear of trees and power lines. Poked around there for about 30 minutes, dug a little clad, some trash and got knocked over twice by a respectable gust, so I decided to check out one of my permissions where I had found silver and wheaties, I stayed to the leeward side of the house and worked a 12x25 area. I had been over this ground twice. I had been thinking that while I had found some good stuff I had not found any jewelry or some of the items you would think would be in the ground that had people living there for 60+ years so I concentrated on mid tones, I got at solid 60’s signal next to the stump of a large tree and dug the lead toy soldier (a first for me), about five feet away I got another solid 60’s signal and thought maybe I had found this dudes battle buddy, so I dug the plug and stuck the pointer in and ...nothing! I looked down at the plug and there it lay my FIRST CW bullet. There was CW activity all around this area, or was the boy who was playing with thesoldier drop it in his yard?? Don’t know, don’t care I’ll take it. Then a few feet away I picked out the merc(1941) in amongst a nail and the Jefferson (1940) so that was a nice way to call it a day!
