The section we hit has virtually no traffic anymore. Lots of sagebrush growing in the road. First thing that happened, about 30 minutes, was I found a silver ring...my first! 30 minutes later Dave dug his first Barber dime, an 1893 S in great condition. 30 minutes later I got a nice, clean signal, and was amazed to unearth a 14k gold ring! How weird is that?... on that old trail. So, hunting along, about 15 minutes later, and the DFX gives a solid nickel reading, and out pops the 1903 V nickel. All of this in about 250 yards of road, of the .77 miles we covered today. My best day, EVER! Still can't believe our luck. My DFX was really performing!

In the east, it's shotgun shells. In the west, it's always rifle shells. Gary

We do find shotgun shells, Gary. Occasionally we even find an old one, but for old stuff, the rifle shells do outnumber the shotgun shells by a wide margin.
I keep hoping to find an intact brass shotgun shell. I found the baseplate of one a couple of weeks ago, but it had separated from the case, probably leaving the case in the shotgun...LOL. The UMC "New Club" shells date back to the late 1800's, early 1900's, so pretty old, for us out here.

Nice old coin shooting! :occasion14:

Congrats. That is what I call a successful day.

Nice work! That is some good, old coin shooting for the Pacific Northwest. I hope you get lots more!
