Now that the hay cut has shorten the grass we can now finish what we started. Last time we were here was in May.

We both dis-like this field as it has very few signals & even less keepers but we are stubborn & it needs doing properly so we never have to give it another thought!

Yesterdays forecast rain finally came, so we kitted up & started the hunt in the rain. Only did 1 hour 15 minutes (2.5 man hours) because the local Museum was open (only opens 10 times a year). We have a few displays in it & wanted to chat to the public about our local history.

Only found:
Lock
Furniture decoration
Blank coin
Nearly blank 1670s Farthing

Thought I would take a couple of pictures of the current displays I have made for the local Museum.

Sorry they are poor quality pictures :-[

One display of buttons & fasteners (Medieval - 20th century) - This is not even 5% of the total collection.
One display of WWI era Cap Badges (Pins) - This is a fraction of what I have found.

Nice displays Crusader, make sure the museum looks after them.

HH Robert.

I am sure the museums are happy to display your finds. You have them displayed very nice too. Two years ago when I went home to England I visited many museums and always enjoyed seeing the history.

I've got just about every detecting book & reference book I can find. I'm not sure anyone has done a book just on UK Military Buttons, I think not (although I remember PBK recommending a book which was a US book on UK Military Buttons, try PMing him). A couple of books have a page or two.

Great finds, love the old lock.
Man you certily found a lot of relics!!! Great desplay at the musium

Thank you for the information about the UK Military Buttons Book........Lee

Yeah, a fair amount of research & loads of time sewing them on with fishing line. I also paid for the museum quality backing board. I'm on the committee, so the work is appreciated.

Impressive displays, and to think that's only a small fraction of your collection...wow. You should post some photos or your entire collection!!!

That's okay, we'll wait! ;D. Nice displays, most of my displays are can, butter tubs, partitioned plastic boxes, tool box drawers, etc. etc. but, I know where everything is.......most of the time :tard:
