Some of my finds from yesterday. The skillet was deep. It had recognizable leaves in it still that I kept. It also had a piece of cloth stuck to the side which was apparenly used to hold it. The handle is unfortunately missing. The knife appears to have tombac like sides. A nice artillery button, also. The lock plate and unkown thing round it out. What beautiful November weather. After digging the skillet, I just laid back and had a 'Hardy' moment :). Too whipped to continue.....

Oops, I forgot the nice scissor :icon_thumright:

Thanks guys. I see that sometimes this style button is listed with a cutoff date of 1802. Does anyone know what the change was after 1802? Thanks

Similar patterns were more domed (later) and even two piece construction so obviously they went well past 1802. There's so many variants dating to so many periods, with so many makers, I'm not sure how good an answer you could ever get on this topic. I tend to stick with ... "early Artillery!" and no more.

Looks like Royal Irish Artillery, or British Royal Artillery pattern. Nice Find!! Hogge

Thanks IP, that's the conclusion I came to after the first one of these I found earlier this year. Here is a site where I got those date cutoffs. I appreciate the input.

It's true your button is early, but that site does log finds that are dated with their best guess. I know, because I've seen mistakes before.

It goes back to your question... Does style mean 3 cannons, or does it mean every other button just like yours. Like I said I never really got deep into these and have been finding them here and there for ten years now. The flat coat size 1785 pattern is the one I can't seem to get over. Have found one but it was pretty sad. I bought 4 absolutely stunning ones a few years back but that doesn't really count. Sure wish I had found them!

Scratcher, I love the relics!! Great button, but it's all nice. Great pics too.

HH,
Rusted
