1937 wheatie 8" with a cibola, very mild soil.

This is very relative to what the ground is like where you hunt. The same Tesoro or other detector may only be able to get down say 6 inches at one location and 12 at the next. Some guys also might not be dead on with the pinpointing and after digging down 14 inches the coin falls from the side of the hole, hense it was at 14 inches.

Clad dime at a measured 10.5". Gave a weak but repeatable signal, mild sandy soil in the woods, disc was at tab(tons of tabs and trash in this park), sens at 9, using vaquero with stock coil. I will add, that most times 8" seems to be about the normal max with this machine in good conditions, I rarely ever use the boost.

$100 mexican coin 10" With an Eldorado

Thanks for replying guys, I'm just genuinely curious about some of your finds. I'm not trying to start a depth war or judge people on the depth of their finds. I'm fortunate to have great soil that is good to hunt in.
I love my silver and I will hunt with it for a long time to come. And if I upgrade,I will look long and hard at the higher end Tesoros. Heck, I steered my brother into buying a Cibola. Thanks again,Dan

My Silver uMax can find targets that are deeper than I want to dig. I find coins in the 6"-8" range but most are less 4" or so. I've dug a piece of lead shaped exactly like a CW buckle that was a foot deep.

They're deep.

Oh, I buried several coins and tried a Whites MXT, Bounty Hunter and Silver uMax (my sister in law has the Whites). The uMax was the deepest. Surprisingly, the BH was 2nd. The deepest coin was quarter at 10". The uMax was the only detector that registered it.

Buffalo nickel at 10 inches (Cibola).

All right guys, What has been your deepest coin find with your Tesoro? I know I shouldn't be hung up on how deep a detector will go,but it just bugs me that I might be passing up great finds that I can't get to,and other make/models could get me to the coins. Mine is a Indian head penny at 6 inches, thanks Dan
11" on a quarter with a Golden.

Chevy Impala at 5 ft

1990 Queen Elizabeth II one pound coin at 11" (dry sand) at the beach here on the east side Fla..

Gotta love the Tiger Shark!!!!!!

I found a wheat cent at 8 inches on a school yard. It was pretty dry soil, like hard clay under grass, with a Cortes.

All good to hear. I'm ordering a Tejon next week and it should get what my ACE 250 can't. Although that lil' booger with the larger 9x12 coil has treated me well! I'm into military relics/brass buttons/old coins etc. I've cleaned up some older park areas more or less. It will be great fun to go over the same areas with the Tejon.

tejon is a great relic machine-loves the old copper coins(wheats and indians) they really pop when your coil is over one.
deepest coin is a 1900 indian at around 9 inches. its a killer on brass too. a big thanks to saltwater max for recommending this machine.

It is very hard to try to explain depth of a certain detector because of varying soil conditions. The Cortes has a preset ground balance in disc mode and in certain ground (mineralisation) the depth can be compromised. With this said, in relatively mild soil, I could routinely find copper and silver coins at 8 inches with some degree of accuracy. I loved the Cortes I had, but I could find 8 or 9 inch deep coins at one spot and when I moved to another location, I seemed to only get 5 or 6 inches. One other factor to consider when you have a Cortes is how other factory coils work. I tried two smaller coils on my Cortes and they were not in tune while detecting in disc mode. All metal is where the factory ground balance comes into play and the coils worked fine as long as you used all metal mode. In mild to medium mineralisation, it is a great detector.

Gotta agree about the Tejon, Lumpsums. It's marketed as a relic machine and yea it's great for relics, but it hammers those deep coins too.

IH at 8 inches with my Vaquero.
