I have found and am familiar with various types of knee and pointer trees found in North GA and other areas. I recently found a different kind of deformed tree in connection with (near) a carved beech tree. The tree I found matches a drawing of what is labeled as a "stunted tree" in the book Cry of the Eagle by Forresr C Wade. The tree is twice it's normal diameter for a couple feet from the base or ground and it is quite large and old. Anyone with info on possible meaning please share.

Thanks
Woody

Hi Woody,
Are you familiar with a book called SHADOW OF THE SENTINEL by Warren Getler and Bob Brewer? It is a detailed explanation of the tree signs and rock carvings left behind by the Knights of the Golden Circle which lead to their money caches.......sounds far-fetched, but apparently true. I bought my copy of the book on ebay a couple of weeks ago (less than $10).

...I read recently that some of the deformed trees were markers left by American Indians.

Actually American Indians avoid deformed trees and old posts.
