Demo Derby

Nobody has asked about my screen name yet, but I'm sure it will come up...so here it is...I build and drive demolition derby cars. I have been doing it now for about 7 years. One of my buddies decided he was going to build a car for fun back in 02'...after all the work and watching him...I decided to build/run one the next year. After my first time...I was hooked.

A lot of people think we just knock out the windows and go, but we put a lot more in to our cars than they did in the old days. We weld a lot on the car, by new parts, build hot motors, run gears, and are really competitive....So, we actually put a lot of money in the cars.

In short, I build and race cars in the summer, and detect all winter...

We have a lot of fun doing it...talk about a rush too... And sometimes we run in to a place or two where we can get permission to go metal detecting in the fall

I bet you did if you were doing frame work. I wish we had a frame machine, or porta-power so we could do some repair work, but we usually end up doing it with a tractor, backhoe, tree, or my personal favorite...a jack..chain...and trailer (at the track)....its a lot of fun


There are some big demo derbies up your way...we have even talked about coming up that way in June to watch Metal Mayhem....it is in Oregon, Illinois...but I don't know...that is a long way from southern Tennessee...lol

We have ademo derby here every year ar our fair ground during the fair. It is great to watch I always want to do it but I have a bad back and I really don't think I should try. Love the pics sure look like you had fun. Take care and be careful....Matt
