depth reading

On my x-terra50, the depth reading will be six inches in the ground when it is only one or two inches. Any one else have this problem with this detector? Theres nothing else any where close to these targets.

How high off the ground are you holding the coil?

the depth meter is based on a coin sized target, if something is smaller, it will register as deeper, make sense?

now if it is a coin reading like that, one of two things, either your coil is too high from the ground, or you do not have coil directly over the target to get an accurate reading, pinpoint the target, then check the depth when your directly over it
