Detecting an 1870s Saw Mill

I found this drawer pull from a old 1870s Saw Mill site. rang up a vdi of 23 on the Equinox

I think its brass. It just has a layer of dry dirt giving it the silver appearance in the pic.

I understand that. Probably a drawer pull for the office desk that kept the payroll..

What is really weird about the site is that it almost looks like a dump site. There is a ravine that has a small tributary flowing into a major river and on the banks of this tributary are thousands of old bottles sticking out of the banks on both sides. Plus a lot of other old pieces like whiskey jugs, wash basins, old pottery, and just littered everywhere. Very interesting.
