Detecting And Native Artifacts

I know a guy who has hunted for Native American artifacts for years. Over time he's gained access to many fields. He recently invited me to start coming along with him with my detector if I want. Aside from him finding numerous artifacts there's been no research done into any of these locations. So my question is, does the presence of Native American artifacts give any indication that a field might be worth detecting? Thanks

Only if the artifacts are made out of metal.
Go once and swing a coil for a few minutes, there could have been anything going on in the area. My best finds came from places I swore I would never even get a hit at. Good luck!
