detecting sanibel island

Hi fellow detectors. Happy New Year. Got a Garret 250 for Christmas. Relatively new to detecting. Don't know much about it. Doing alot of reading. Heading to Sanibell Island later this month. Want to try it out on the beach.
Does anyone know if it is allowed? Who would I contact to get permission? Do you know of any good places nearby? Ever found anything there yourself? Any information is greatly appreciated. Thank You. Hope it is a great year of M.D. for everyone.

It's legal to detect the beaches on Sanibel.As far as detecting anywhere else on the island,I don't know.Good luck and H.H.
