To bring things into perspective, the park area has been used quite extensively for years w/4th of July celebrations, carnival rides, speed boat races at adjacent lake, band concerts, chili cook-offs,etc.
The razed house area had 40-50 homes at one point that were moved when a local oil co. bought up the land for environmental reasons. They turned it into a jogging/bike park and there's an annual Powwow held on a 3 day weekend with dealer booths and a grass parking area for participents that allows for R.V.'s and tents.
The oil field town was built up in the 20's and at one point had a pop. of almost 30,000 with 2 highschools, 4 grade schools, and more taverns and brothels than you can imagine.
The grade school has been around since the 20's that I know of and is getting ready to be closed in about a year or so.
