detecting Virginia and Maryland questions?

Gonna be heading to either Virginia Beach area in Virginia or somewhere by beach and coastal area of Maryland. Can someone inform me of the detecting laws for each of these states especially coastal beach areas regarding detecting laws? Thanks

You can detect the beaches in Virginia Beach, State parks are a no go. They just would like for you to have respect for those who are using the beaches at the time. Best time is to go near dusk. Many tourists head into their hotels by then.
