Here a tool that some of you might find helpful. I did not invent this I don't who. But a fellow in one of the clubs I belong to had something like this. I got a new 2d cad program and used this design to help learn the program. (If your interested it's Viacad 2d).

The drawing and pictures are a guide, adjust the dims to fit you.:icon_scratch:
Let me know if you make one.:occasion14: IMGA0358.webpIMGA0359.webpIMGA0357.webp

what is it used for
looks like a rag on a stick

I'm so confused here... It looks like the last papertowel on the roll... I make those all the time

yes used as a drop cloth when digging out bottom of holes, I just use a small square of plastic

What the dowel for?
I have same thing witout dowel
just fold it up and put it in pouch

16" x 16" piece of rolled rubber roofing has worked for me the last 30 yrs.

dunno why the dowl

If you read the diagram, It's a drop cloth that can also be used like a cane to help you stand up after you are done with the hole. This isn't really appealing to me as it would just add something to the list of things I have to carry. Also, I use my shovel to help stand up to my feet.

A place to put the dirt when digging in a nice lawn like a park and with the handle on both ends it's a mini crutch to help to get to your feet, most parks frown on digging with a shovel and a digging trowel or knife is to short to use as a crutch.
It's not for everybody, but for some of us it really helps. If you click on the diagram you get the big pic and the notes explain everything you need to know. It's not for everyone but it helps to to get back up.

A section of old shower curtain works good too.

I use a 16" diameter rubber circle cut from a tractor tire inner tube to kneel on or hold dirt.
