One concern I have about the Deus II is the complexity of the menu. I have hear that it is more complex to navigate than the Manticore. I am definitely not a tech savvy person! I pretty much use the stock programs even on my Equinox 600. Are my concerns justified in this respect? Thanks for any help!

It's probably nothing you can't get used to. I don't have the Manticore, but, I have lots of other Minelabs including the 800 and 900. Those have a fairly logical setup for the menu system. The D2 does not. Most of the Minelabs have a menu system like a tree, with a main trunk and branches off of that. The D2 has 3 trunks with branches, and some settings are buried in illogical places.

I don't own any minelabs, but I kind of agree with Cuda.
The Deus takes some getting used to, but it's doable.
The stock programs cover most all hunting types and once you're comfortable you can start making adjustments
to more of your hunting styles.

Good info from both of you, thanks!

There are good videos on how to navigate the Deus 2 menu (check out MentalMetal).
And the stock General, Sensitive, and Deep HC (the three I use and base my custom programs on) are pretty good without changes.
The menus are confusing, but you don’t change too many things too often so I don’t see it as a problem.

Yes, the Deus II menu configuration is a PITA. I have to carry notes to remember what’s where-
But I love the detector !

Honestly the D2 menu makes sense very intuitive , doesn’t take long to figure out, at least for Meir speaks my language lol

Just like with the D1, once you get used to the D2 menu you understand why it's set up the way it is.

But it's not a detector I'd recommend for anyone who likes to just turn it on and go. Although you could use it that way and it does preform extremely well using just the factory settings, you'd be paying quite a bit more for its customization abilities with no intent to use them.

Little video I shot just for you.

One suggestion I made to XP many moons ago was that they should provide a written menu tree so that new users know where to find which application, what it does and how to navigate to those various menu options.
A hard copy menu tree sure would have helped this Cav Guy....I needed all the help I could get when I first picked up a Deus. :icon_scratch::laughing7:

The rest of you may not have an issue with the following, but it always causes me a bit of confusion when I am navigating the menu. The arrows for the buttons on the remote often conflict with the arrows on the screen. For me, it's instinctive to think the up/down arrow on the screen would coincide with the up/down arrow on the remote, however that isn't always the case. The fact that the buttons some times agree with the screen, adds to the confusion.

If I can figure it out, you can figure it out. Haha! Seriously though... naw... that's a common misconception but its just myth. The menu system is perfectly logical. There may be some terms that are different than other machines (reactivity vs recovery rate, etc) but you'll figure those out quickly enough.

Don’t underestimate your own abilities! If you are very “into” metal detecting your own sense of curiosity will WANT to know how it works, how the remote is set up, why things are the way they are. Once you get used to buzzing around the remote you’ll be VERY glad that you spent the time and energy to get that far, this is how you will now be able to get the most out of the machine. I VERY much recommend the full version of the machine as navigation is easier vs the WS6 master version. I have both, I can operate both just fine…but that’s ME. Regardless of your “tech abilities”, this machines abilities to find coins in terrible conditions is pretty much off the chart. My chart anyway…Good luck with whatever you decide, there’s a lot of help available such as the video David posted and many more online.
