Someone loaned me a Whites DF for a couple of weeks. Nice PI. These are some of yesterdays finds about 50 g of silver. This was off a popular beach that gets hunted to death. Those large chains were deep im not certain the standard Xcal would have hit them.... maybe an inch or so beyond what might make you investigate the signal. The DF is a 15uS machine with a huge 12" coil. Takes a little getting used to even thou it helps i hunt a good bit in PP mode on the Xcal. Im finding a PI would be a good back up machine, but here in Fl where you have a longer recent drop time you might miss out on some good finds. You have to choose your site and grid it out or find a line an follow it to make better use of your time. Ive not found a target yet id say its more responsive to than a VLF, so its about the additional depth you might get. Here in Fl not as much depth as say up North. The thought of ill get a LOT more depth during sanded in conditions may not be true because you have to consider..... with sand movement targets are sorted by weight. so on a newly flattened sand bar you may be picking up floaters and trash if you attempt to hunt it like a VLF. That one picture is what was left in my pouch .....i dumped it once.
