Have a DFX. I also have the rechargeable battery pack. I've had it plugged in for three days now. Battery still not charged/charging.
The adapter that is plugged into wall is warm, but batteries are still ice cold.
I amusing the overnight option on charger.

maybe a bad battery?? or have you checked this?

I'm not quite sure how to check it.

Ok, I checked a few things out.
1. I plugged charger into wall and checked voltage with meter. Meter indicates that the charger is tip positive @ 20.6 volts, DC.
2. I opened battery tray to check and see if all wires are properly connected. They are
3. All stickers correlate to each other, meaning I have correct charger for battery.
4. Sticker on charger reads as it is an 11.6v DC charger with tip negative. Hmm, meter is not agreeing with this.

I double checked with a different volt meter and sure enough, my charger has correct identification, but internals are not as they should be. Double voltage and wrong tip polarity. I guess I need a new charger. Good thing I have two alkaline battery packs.

was gonna tell you to resort to that well you already done it good luck with a new charger i have a charger for an xlt battery pack if it the same one you pay shipping and it yours... i have no use for it

Personally had enough problems with the battery packs - both alkaline and rechargable - that I broke down and popped the bucks for a R&B Innovations AW2200 from New England Detector. Best money I've spent on this detector. Seems to hold a charge forever...well, at least three weeks of 2 to 4 hours per day, 3 to 4 times a week detecting.
They aren't cheap - $179. But they fit the Spectra and E-Series machines. And, yes, 2200ah is what the factory calls for.
