Detector(s) used
White's Classic SLII and the E series DFX and the Minelab ExplorerII
My brand new shiny DFX is all covered with mud already. It works just fine. I took it out for a night hunt and we got to know each other
a little better.
The DFX is much more sensitive to targets and located many things my SLII didn't hear at all. (On that field).

Anyway. Who puts quarters inside poptops? ;)

It showed up as a quarter. So when I dug up the bottlecap I was pissed! I've only had the DFX for like 5 hours!

All I could think at the time was "this DFX sucks"! Then I stuck my thumb inside the bottlecap and felt the quarter. ;)

My SLII would have skipped right over that target! I still love it though.

Looks like your getting it dialed in. I learned quickly that just like fishing anything is possible when metal detecting.

That is great!!!!!!!!!! ;D

Thats funny and intresting, wonder how that got there, and how many others missed it. I have to say I have had my Explorer Se about 2 weeks and have unmasked a few coins myself (although That is extreme detecting). way to go

It most likely got in there by someone having a bottle cap in their change pocket. A quarter will fit inside of a bottle cap easily and when discarding the bottle cap the quarter can be trapped inside. I've seen this in my days but not one dug out of the ground.

Very Nice! I would have probably missed that quarter.

But I would re-bury that Nsync thingy. Some things are better left dead. :P

WOW, It didn't even mess with the VDI's...84 is a solid quarter signal. Did it sound OK?

It sounded rock solid! That's why I was pissed off when I saw the bottlecap. In fact I was was still annoyed about it when I posted this thread.

Now I realize that it was a good thing, and the DFX isn't broken. My other detector won't even find bottlecaps. They sound like a faint click.

Plus it was very deep too. I dug pretty far down to get it. 8 inches at least.

One target ID really impressed me. I got a foil/ring icon at 5". When I dug it up, the target actually was a tiny piece of candy foil someone had folded into a square.

I mean this piece of foil was tiny.

Neat unusual find, cool! I may not have look inside the cap but usually remove the dirt before tossing it in my trash pouch so maybe I would have found it, LOL. HH, Mike

That is surely one of the more interesting finds that I have heard of.

DUDE!!!! n'sync ::)

Gotta love the slightly unusual! Keeps up the excitement!

Have fun,
