hello all,

it has been a while, but here is a great trip we just took. I hope this helps when going down to Arkansas.

We spent one day at each location. First was diamond crater park. This is our second trip. we have yet to find any diamonds but this second time around I had other ideas. I wanted to get loads of other gems instead and we were not disappointed. We got 2 buckets of Jasper (red, yellow, muilti colored, brown and black), agates, conglomerates, and small amount of quartz)

opps here we go ... first box is smaller jaspers ... second box is clear and white quartz from Wegners

the second day we went to Wegners crystal mine. you can mine several options, we chose the tailings area. We were not disappointed and once we started cleaning the clusters, very pleased.

We had fun at both, but would spend more time at Wegners ... pay more and go into the mine as well. I do like diamond crater and will still do it again, after all where else can you go to find diamonds? There are several other Quartz mines in the area as well. Talking to several people both Coleman's mines are good. Wegner's is very good for all levels of folks from kids to adult. The tailings was easy to get to and easy to walk in.

so for those of you on the fence, get out there and mine! these two places are an hour apart from each other. This is great time of year to go ... not too hot or crowded. fall colors in the Ozarks are great too.

Thank you all for looking.

Very much enjoyed your pictures, thanks for posting all of them. I made my third trip to the crater this past October and am still sorting washed gravel...brought 4 buckets home! I will have to plan on the crystal mine next year, sounds interesting. Happy hunting!
