did anybody drop an enfield???

Went back out into the woods behind my house again this weekend not expecting to find much, but was pleasantly surprised. On Saturday I dug a whole spencer(after digging what was a whole spencer which I hit with the shovel ). On Sunday went back out and dug 10 enfields from the same hole! . All drops, but what I found most interesting is that within a ten foot radius around this enfield "cache", there were three shot spencers in very close proximity. I think whoever dropped the enfields was being shot at by someone and got a little anxious. Don't know what happened after that, but it was a great day for me! Thanks for looking and HH!

I read somewhere that soldiers would sometimes "load up" with ammo before an action. If they had to retreat, often it was dumped to lighten their load. I know guys locally (northern VA) who used to dig 10 to 20 bullets in a very small radius from pouches being dumped. But that was 30 years ago... Sigh...

No stamps unfortunately, I've found a few L1 L2 and a lot of 57's but none in this bunch
