I was hunting this morning with my nox800 and I'll be honest I never get this lucky. So I get a solid 13 signal and start to uncover this chain. It looks amazing and feels heavy and stamped 14k. Is it possible I hit the big one??

Looks real to me Congrats! There's no corrosion which would be the case if it was plated.

Looks real from here - a great find - congrats ! :icon_thumright:
A local Jeweler can give you more info., value, etc. - most Jewelers offer this service for free.

Only way to be sure is to test it. I have found gold rings and necklace marked 14K that failed gold acid tests

Agreed, its a common fake mark, so to speak.
Fingers crossed its real.

My fingers are 🤞 crossed. I think it looks good. 🍀
I'm not saying it isn't, just the only way to be sure is to test it, the ones I found looked good too, but they failed 14, 12, and 10k acid tests and they were stamped 14K.

So i have an old acid test and tested it.... the 14k ate right through it BUT the 10k held out strong. So what do you think? Would they stamp 14k on a 10k necklace? Maybe the acid is too old and couldn't test right?

As far as would they stamp 14k on 10K, yes, you get more money for 14k, How old is the acid, it starts going bad after about a year so it could be just old acid...

Oh it's probably 4 years old, so it's bad for sure. It weighs 23.6 grams. Would that be about the right weight?

Weight want say, different lengths of chain. I would order a new acid test, they are fairly cheap, under $25.00 for a good one, a lot on eBay also sold on amazon.

Or go to reputable jewelry store. Most will test it for free, or very little.

There's 2 links that have divots, one on the left and one the right hand side.
Not sure if this is normal for a linked chain.

Now that is enlarged look at the grey wear with the darker centre.
There's many of those it seems, so I'm not all that sure if this is the real McCoy.
