Detector(s) used
Whites MXT Pro 6X10 DD and 4X6 DD coils and coil covers
Primary Interest:
Prospecting
Need a Colorado Detector for Gold is priority 1, and then secondary it will be used for other general stuff in FL and on beach.
Seams 705 is good for gold and also versatile.
But MXT Pro is very versatile machine.
Seams like GMT is kinda the same but was looking at the MXT Pro for doing more versatile hunting machine.
Very confusing for buying my first machine.
Cost is not a factor on these models.

Any input to witch way to jump would be helpful.

The 705 and its ability to switch coils and frequencies make it VERY versatile. You can go from a gold coil to a silver coil in just a few minutes! Holler with more questions!

I'm with Bart on this one. If you were looking for a dedicated gold only machine, then I'd be looking at the GB Pro or GMT. But if you're looking for an all around land machine, then the 705 is the most versitile.

I have come full circle and just been waiting a bit for whites to release info on the two new units they have coming out.
I am going with a MXT Pro if there is no new whites that fit me.

Cool!
Means more goodies for me. :laughing7: Just don't go buying up all the batteries now, 'cause you're going to carry and burn up half again as many lugging that heavy single frequency thing around.

Interesting
What is the weight difference between the two.
I like what Steve Herschbach and Jeff Foster had to say about it.
No mention of battery problem's, please fill me in.

The Xterra is 2.9 pounds with batteries vs Mxt at 4.4 pounds, with batteries. A pound a half makes a big difference when you are swinging it all day.

Interesting
Good point.

By going to the Xterra you'd save 1.7lbs., you'd run on half the batteries, you'd have three frequencies to choose from instead of just one, you'd have 8 search modes instead of 3, you'd have auto/manual GB, GB Tracking and Tracking Offset, you'd have 28 tones instead of 7, you'd have auto/manual Noise Cancel Channel, and you'd have 12 coils to choose from.

You make a very good valid point.

GTXKID: It looks like you bought the MXT Pro. Can you give us your thoughts on it now that you have used it?

Thanks,
Rand

I want to trade my xterra 705 for an Elite. Or eureka gold !
