Diggin' up all kinds of stuff today......

I have no idea what some of this is, but drug it home. Think I'll start a 5 gallon bucket in the garage for scrap metal.

No idea what the little half ball of lead with the flat back is. Also found what appears to be a shot lead bullet in the woods below my house. One thing sorta looks like a piece of a key. The shotgun piece appeared to have a paper shell at one time. Not much here to brag about but had a great time.

I am starting to find metal detecting a little bit like fishing. You never know what your gonna "catch" or if it's a keeper, but the whole anticipation of what your are bringing in or diggin' up is where the fun lies.

I did manage to find one penny, haha.

Detecting in the woods is tough, but it looks like you're finding quite a bit. I think that shotgun shell might be older, too (as in wheats and silver old).

Keep it up!

Thanks for the encouragement. Well, got out today again and visited my parents house. Found a bunch of .22 shells in the yard about 3-4 inches down. It's hard to imagine how they "sink" like that over the years. I probably was the one to shoot them growing up. Also got my heart racing a bit when I remembered a spot we used to play around as kids. It was a sunken area in the ground, almost like something was there and had collapsed. My heart raced a bit when I put my detector in the bottom of the hole and got a big 'ole bleeeeeeeee in pinpoint mode. Stuck my pinpointer in the ground and hit something. Got a shovel from my dad's shed and dug up all kinds of what appeared to be ashtub type material and then hit something that was solid. Dug around it and all I found was an old pan. No idea whatsoever what it was doing there or how it got there. Also a few square nails turned up.
