Guys just want to remind you to make sure we are all putting the divot back in the hole when we dig. I was at Mock park here lately and had just put away the detector after not much found for 2 hours. But when i arrived my wife and i noticed where you could see where someone had been detecting and did not replace the divot. Guys if we want to continue to dig in city parks we all have to make sure we dont leave a mess and then we cant detect in city parks and i think we all know that would be bad. Please dont spoil it for us who want to enjoy this hobby and have some fun. I wanted to write this to let everybody know before it is to late and thanks to people like Nick A he has done a great job telling people where we can dig and to replace the divot and make it look like we were never there. Thanks Nick

I know that skunks dig in spots that people blame on Detectorists. They are looking for grubs in the fall.

I've also run into squirrels digging up my divots after I've filled them in. So it's not always in considerate detectorist that are the cause. Maybe we should be letting park personnel know of these.

I have told officials that and they say i was just making excuses for inconsiderate detectorists .Talk about getting MAD !!!

That's some crazy shit, I'm embarrassed if my holes are left open, or even worse if I dig a hole and fill it in and it looks like T-Rex clawed the ground... 🤣

Also Squirrels do a LOT of digging small holes looking for NUTS ....

The tell-tale sign that it was not an animal digging up the divot is when the divot and the trash (usually a pulltab) is laying on the ground too. A park I detected for twenty years was shut down for this reason.
I was constantly seeing this and was removing the trash and replacing the divots but eventually, the park employees got tired of it. Think about it, we don't want to put a detector in the hands of a litterbug! They can't help it and they will never change!

In my younger years I had friends that owned golf courses. Some nights we would drive around the golf course after dark with a spot light and shoot skunks digging up the course looking for worms and Larva's

I pretty much pick up trash as I go. Occasionally I will toss shit in the woods or under a building depending on the circumstance, But NEVER leave a trash target in the hole you dug it out of, because sure as shit your going to walk over it again and dig it again...
My friends in Spain could not convince the Spanish Metal Detectorists about this in the field, we would pick up lead and trash as we hunted a farmers field for Roman stuff, and we would take it and dump it outside the field in the trash or something...
Spanish guys many times would simply throw it back down, and keep walking... you couldn't explain to them that you would just have to dig it the next time you were out in that field again... :dontknow: :icon_scratch:
