Disassemble and reassemble a Minelab

I just did a lot of Oceanside detecting and battery section got a bit wet and the rest of the unit underwent a lot of wind spraying etc. I was wondering if anybody has taken their unit apart for a thorough cleaning. Or would advise against it? My unit is out of the warranty period.
Seems like it can be done with a bit of patience.

Are you talking about the safari?

If so you need to clean it out real good or it will corrude. If your hunting beaches with it you need to bag it, the salt mist will get inside and do damage to the electronics, there is a lot of salt in the mist.
