This Disston D8 has an unusual etch, handle and medallion that I can't find on the Disston Institute website. Can anyone help me identify it? Thanks.

Just a couple of thoughts from a quick look I did...

1. It may be a more modern commemorative of the D8 model saw, or

2. it looks as if the handle does not belong to the blade. I could not find a D8 that had that "simple" of a handle, and there are the two holes in the handle that don't have rivets or screws.

I am thinking the later. A mismatched blade and handle combo. I believe your blade and medallion are from the 1953-1955 time frame (right before HK Porter bought them out) and the handle is from a different saw. Your medallion could be from the 1947-1953 time frame depending on its size.

BTW, looks like that blade wasn't used very much.
