Djabend's 2008 finds (Relic pics added in a lower post)

Well this years just about over so here are my finds for the year.

This years finds were more then I expected with lots of coppers
a few different Indian heads, including a first year 1859 and a flying eagle!

Not a lot of silver, but I am not complaining, finally found some quarters :thumbsup:

Intersting relics including WW1 dogtags and my first dog tax.

and a few rings including my first gold band.

The best find of the year a 1852 three cent

This coin and all of the coppers were found in a hay field just across the street(It took me 2 years to think to look there :icon_scratch:

Almost forgot this relic, a 1800s sleigh bell that still rings (has a rust ball inside

)

and the makers name on it.

Super Find's Donny....Lot's of Copper's too!!!! :thumbsup:

The 3C. is awesome,found my first (53') this year,very cool little coin's.If you don't mind show a pic of the coin with the "X" on it,sorry but I missed that one this year.Again some Great find's.Happy Holiday's to you and your's and the Best of Luck in 09' :thumbsup:

Sure, there are 2 with X's on them. They are both Canadian bank tokens.

My favorite spoon is the silent movie star spoon.

I did not have a favorite relic for the year, lots of them were cool and unexpected.

Thank you So much for posting the relics. I like to see what other keepers folks are finding--and I think it's great that our site can be such a good record and database for us to ID things for folks.

One day, in the far flung future...someone will search for a wierd spoon that they found that says "Lois Wilson" on it...and when they see your post here they'll realize they're not alone.

I love the clay pipe. I've found precious few of those, and I love the ones I have. I also think the complete stencil is awesome. Have you been able to come up with any information on it?

Actually Buckles that's not a clay pipe. It was about a 30 VDI on the XLT, might be pewter :icon_scratch:

As for the stencil I was able to find some NY Times articles from the 1890s on a James Clinch Smith and a Francis T. Underhill that ran a coach called Tempest
Perhaps this was for stenciling something for shipping to them

I was able to find this info on James Clinch Smith as well.

I don't think I've Ever seen a pewter pipe. I've seen plenty of pewter Whistles and Clay pipes, but that is a COOL piece!

Its the only pipe I have ever found.

I found another bit of info on the web about James Clinch Smith, who I believe is the Smith referred to on the stencil.

What is the name for the bell that you found? It starts with a 'C'. I found one in Umatilla, Florida recently. It's not nearly as nice as yours, but I still think it's pretty neat. Got me 2nd place in Find of the Month for the Ocala club. Thanks! Great pic's
