on the probe's what are the pros and cons, are they highly recommended please explain there use. What conditions do you use these probes most often. & thanks I get more from reading your advice than i get from the web sites that sell it.

Not to many years ago you couldn't have given me an electronic pinpointer to use. I felt that useing this would slow down my recovery time as it is just one more thing to mess with. I have one now and never hunt without it.

Main uses: shallow clad hunting saves tearing up alot of turf looking for coins stuck in the sod.

Really old sites with old valuable deep coins. I can't tell you how many times I have found the coin in the bottom of the cone right where my digger would have gone next. It will save you scratched coins. Only takes one of these on the right coin to pay for many pinpointers.

I use the Whites pinponter. I also would not go detecting with out it.
It works great on coins about a inch and a half or less in depth. Once you
pinpoint it you can probe it up with out ever digging a hole. If I dig a plug
and the object is not in the plug then I will pinpoint the hole. It also works
great to find those small objects that go through your sand scoop at the beach.
Do not know if it is the best or not it is the only one I have use and it works for me.

like both post very much, one follow up question, with my det. I always find the item but using the method of digging a plug and passing it under the coil is a little akward IM thinking the probe would be its handyest at this part of the search, also I like the idea of not having to dig such a large area
