Lately I have had this on my mind.

Years ago I remember yard rock, white quartz with gold streaks running through it. I now wonder if it was real gold and if that yard rock would still exist in some older beds of the older homes. If my memory serves me right this was in my youth in western Tenn.

I am sure that if it were gold that they would have noticed that it was.
It was probably pyrite.

What you can do is research the local quarries around your area/state/neighboring states and see if any of them ever mention gold.
