That is completely useless for gold hunting unless you are looking for multi-pound Aussie nuggets. Even then I don't think that detector is capable of dealing with the extreme mineralization of gold fields/

At one time they were worse than that. Some years ago the factory did some kind of firmware upgrade that helped the problem in areas like the the US, but I don't think it will ever be able to handle the ground in Australia.
