I can't see a '12'... where am I supposed to be looking?

Some French silver plate was marked numerically to indicate the amount of silver used in the plating bath per dozen pieces. Small pieces were commonly marked with a 12, but usually as "12 G" or "12 Gr" and in a square cartouche.
