...or features when a detector is the same brand n model For example does the vanquish 540 go deeper than the vanquish 440 or are you paying for the extra discrimination slots,light,etc.etc.. aka features?
Another example nokta simplex basic to simplex ultra?
Then what about same brand but different models....within reason of course say Nokta simplex ultra to the nokta legend? Does the legend go deeper?

I would say yes and no-

Most up grades in models seem to be for separation.
Meaning a the next series will separate targets in iron or trash better.
Target ID on targets will be more defined.

For depth it might even be less because of these new features/filters/programs.

I have never owned any of the machines listed.
But can only say what I found owning White's/Minelabs/Dues

Take the difference between the Dues l and the Deus ll
The depth range might go to the Deus 1 even, though turning the reactivity down from the preset on the Deus ll makes a big difference also.

It comes down to also knowing the machine well and that takes many hours.
A person that has 500-1000 hrs with an old model machine will still get better results generally than operating a new machine with only a few hrs.

Makes sense, thank you.
If I could ask another question along these lines... What about coils of same size (11") and type (double d) as far as performance. Would a nel or detect ultimate coil go deeper or separate better than the stock coils or is it more a durability thing?

Custom coils are more finely tuned than factory coils of the same size, but for general purpose hunting, aren't so much of an improvement as to pay the premium for them. If you are one of those people that needs an edge for nugget hunting or deep civil war relics in hunted out areas, hunting fields in Europe for deep hammered coins, etc. then those coils might be what you are looking for
