I'll let you judge.

I wandered the mansion again today. Pickings are extremely slim! I'm just trying to hit those little pockets now, the ones that one might tend to skip over when trying to cover a lot of ground initially. :)

I recall seeing these fine toothed steel combs but I've forgotten their purpose. :dontknow:

Hinge of some sort.

No clue about this hunk of metal. It does have the letters "IDE" on it. :dontknow:

Even my driver showed up without my ride. ;)

Did find a coin though. Back was pretty toasted.

But, praise the small blessings, I don't have to wonder about just
one more blank looking slug in my collection. You know, the one you
always wonder about. What could it be? ??? :icon_scratch:

This one's obverse had enough info for me to feel pretty confident in
saying that this is an 1803 half cent. My first half cent!

One more off my bucket list. :)

Since I couldn't see much on the reverse I had to rely a bit on deductive reasoning.
But, the size and weight do appear to be about right. It was worn quite a bit. :dontknow:

How about that, 210 years old! I love this hobby! :)

Thanks for stopping by!

The hunk of metal with the letters "IDE" on it are part of a lead acid battery. The full wording would have read exide. Looks like an enjoyable hunt with a little treasure!

HI BOB!

Looks like you had a good day.If one coin means a bad day then welcome to the crowd.

It's crusty but still a great old coin. Love to have one in my collection.
Very nice find...

I believe the comb with the finely spaced teeth is meant for flea removal from pets.

You lucky dog!, I also got my first half cent this year about a month and a half ago, but mine was holed and I cant get a date!, way to go!!!

I didn't find a good target for about a half hour today, then it hit me. Change your battery stupid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!???

I do feel pretty fortunate. Both sides could have been just plain toast. I've found many. This one is pretty special.

Thanks!

cool ...looks just like my 1797 large cent ..but my lc is bigger then 3/4"

The thing that looks like a comb I think is part of a music box, i might be wrong.

always love seeing your posts! You always make sure Blingie has something! Good job man. You lucky dog you!

I think your hinge is part of a wind out window not positive though.

only one coin, but it was a really cool one

Not a bad day at all, especially finding that beauty!

very nice finds, and that fine tooth comb is a pet comb, my grandmother had the exact one.

I wouldn't call that a bad day at all. Half cents are hard to find. I found an 1803 also, had been planning to put up a big post with all my finds but still haven't done the photos yet. I think yours might be a little less toasted than mine, though.

Congratulations on a good "bad day"

Congrats on the half cent! Only half cent I've come up with was half a corroded zinc! You keep finding things for hair, but... Shhhh, Blingie doesn't have hair, shhhh!

Thanks!

I've done just about all the cleaning on this one I'm going to do. I feel pretty fortunate that it was in enough shape to be able to ID.
It doesn't look like one of those coins that will lend itself to getting any better. But, I may try a bit more.

They must be a tough coin to find. I've been doing this a very long time and this was a first! :)

Made my day!
