It looks like a couple of scrap lead pieces were mushed together and then as a whole it was smashed over something that had raised lettering.
Does the font / letters look familiar to anyone? " owne"
I suspect this is only part of the whole name.
Its about the size of a U.S. quarter.
What is the name from? A large button? A tool handle? Car part?

I see the partial word 'OWNE', possibly short for 'OWNER'? :icon_scratch:
My first thought was a home-made bale seal of sorts.

Years ago, I found a couple of small lead pieces on a c1820 site, god only knows for what purpose these were used.

That's the id associated with this find....I made a useful link only in this case.
But this one is definitely in the solved category now !
Excellent sleuthing as usual Bramblefind !

Good ID. The Walter M Lowney Company was founded in Boston in the early 1880s. This is the trademark they filed for in 1968, as LOWNEY'S rather than the earlier unregistered LOWNEY mark:

I never cease to be amazed by the people on this site. Another amazing ID. I tip my hat to ironhorse and Bramblefind.

EDIT: And also for an assist to DC Matt for the clear explanation of the process involved in making this little relic.

Sorry all, been away from the computer for a minute. WOAW!! Awesome job to you all. No doubt that is a positive ID. The "L" and "W" really jump out in the mirror image. Thank you.
I will edit this post into the solved section.
