What's new

Does this sound like a good place to start on a new site?

I have the chance to do my first field hunts of the spring this week. I'm gonna focus on a flat ground terrace above a springhead near where it enters the main stream. The flat terrace has another spring to the west. The entire site is a South facing slope. The rest of the property is gently sloped and contains the headwaters to the mainstream in the valley below.

Should I search the slopes first or the terrace above the spring?

flat land above the flood plain near fresh water

Thanks bsit1361. My gut feeling was the flat land out of the floodplain. It contains over 20 acres and should keep me busy. I just hope to find some flint.

Sounds promising Rich, I'd start with the high flat spots above the spring.

Yep high ground first or on an edge in the field if it changes levels. The darkest soil as well may mean plowed up fire pits. Good luck and keep us posted.
