I took off this morning with my new impact fitted with the small coil. Over all i am pretty impressed by the depth of that thing. I picked up about one dollar in clad along with a nice dog tax tag dated 1908.
I was using the standard DI3 mode with gain set at 85. The tag was about 7 inches down with a nice round high tone coupled with a solid 78 on the VDI. I was sure i was going to see a clad penny or dime so when this popped out of the ground, it was a pleasant surprise.

The first image was after a quick tooth picking

This was after hitting it with a little olive oil for a half hour

I have a great 1840s permission lined up for next Sunday so until next week...HH everyone!

The 109 year old dog tax tag just ROCKS!:headbang: Cleaned up nicely. Glad your Impact is working for you. :icon_thumleft:

I always wonder about the dog when I dig up a dog tag. Nice old find.

Love those old dog tags, and that's a nice one!

Always like to see the old dog tags. Congrats on a nice old one.

. I reckon he was one of those 'Tea Party' dogs and ripped off his tax tag while muttering something about being taxed to death. Or he lost it while chasing a rabbit.

Yea i am amazed that cities had pet taxes back then. I tried looking up the history of the dog tax here in Greensboro and found nothing. Now i am on a mission to see how far back my city has been doing this.

That's a killer tag.

Love old dog tags that's a nice one for sure...

Very nice find sir.

My oldest is from the 1930s... that one is really sweet.

I like them too, didn't realize how long animals were being vaccinated for rabies either, a lot longer that I imagined.
