Camping trip at the lake, found this dog....I know someone out in TNet land can identify it for me. I was found in about 2 feet of water, very crusty. I have soaked and brushed it for the last 3 days of our trip. Any info...or guesses? This is my first photo post, hope it works. Here goes

I don't have a clue, but congrats on your find

looks like from a fishing/hunting license large needle to hold on jacket/hat, onyl the needle part is missing

So it looks like its made to clip on a suspended line between two trees and slide back and fourth on it. My first thought is an older dog trolley clip. It would clip on the rope between trees, and the hook at the mouth would have a leash clipped onto it that would go down to the dogs collar. So the dog could run around, up and down the line. Most of the newer ones use a pulley. I did a halfhearted google search to try and find a similar one and didn't.

But whats for certain is the way the loop at the top is formed, its designed to clip onto a string or cable without having to thread it through, and the hook on the dogs mouth was used to attach something!

I took that you found it in water into account, and googled some more... there is a type of fishing called "Trolley rig" or "Slide rig". You anchor a set line from the bank to bottom, and clip on the slides and send them into the water.

Similar design, but your piece seems big! So perhaps either a dog trolley clip, or a fishing trolley rig.

Is it a lure retriever?

Kinda ironic that someone lost a lure retriever!
