Dont know about metal detecting at D.R. The last time we were there on a cruise they wouldn't let us off a protected area (that was fenced in and armed security )

I wouldnt worry about the law, I'd worry about the locals. DR is an extremely poor country, and seeing an obvious foreign visitor swinging a detector worth more than their yearly (or multi year) income could have a very bad outcome.

Is metal detecting allowed . I will be there in dec

Hi Metalhead, I live hear in Santo Domingo . What type of hunting will you be doing? you have to be careful where you get in the water. and they will give you crap if you are in a historical land site. I've been run off by the marines and the police in the past but never arrested.
Its always best to keep as low profile as possible.

I will be metal detecting on the resort mainly the beach

No problem on the beach. good luck!

Thanks I will let you know how I did when I get back

BE CAREFUL!!!!!

You will be Seen!
You will be Followed!!
You will be SORRY!!!!!

I lived and worked there 6-years for an American Company in the Free Trade Zone.
I was a Moderator for Living Forum on DR1, during that time.
If you do not think that I know what I'm talking about, you are mistaken.

Go to the DR, stay at an all inclusive resort.
Travel off the resort, with company,...a few friends, not just some hot young local.

Always be back on the resort before dark.
Drink plenty of Presidente or Brugal, eat & taste everything, dance your ass off!!!
Have a great time!!!!

But be careful!
You are just a visiter,... a guest in a boderline 3rd to 2nd world country.
Worst Day, sitting at CEDIMAT in Santo Domingo, holding my 7yr old son, bleeding from his eye's & nose, due to Dengue Fever.

Best Day, way, way, way too many to list!!!

I lived in Barrio Chino, Haina, west of Santo Domingo.
Traveled all over the Island, including Haiti and long weekends in Cuba.
6ys, my passport said I came home 23-days total, before moving back.

Respectfully, tim.
