Have you ever asked for permission to detect and the owner said sure just don't dig?

Yeah more than a few times. It difficult to not be a smart alack when i reply to the statement. I usually explain that I have to dig a small hole that I refill after. Sometimes I give them a demonstration on the curb strip showing how they cant even see where I dug the hole.
 
I quickly agree, then show him how i will "pop" the target with my 13" flathead screwdriver. :icon_thumleft::skullflag:
 
That's how it is in NY State Parks if you ask. Detect - OK. Dig? No no.

Local Park allows digging in the sand at the man-made beach area in the off season.
