Don't get hosed by Hallmark!

I just swung by the greeting card store to buy a birthday card for my wife. I was grumbling under my breath about spending $3.79 on a birthday card and decided to save a trip back and pick up a Valentines Day card while I was there.

I was shocked to see that a card of the same construction as the overpriced birthday card was $6.79!!!

Sorry Hallmark, while there may some truth to P.T. Barnum's old cliche, "there is a sucker born every minute", I will not be taken for a ride this year. What a friggin rip off!

I hear-by call for an all out ban on Valentine's Day Greeting Cards.

I know the women reading the forums are going to give me hell for this, but there are better ways to show one's love than by giving money to a company that profits from the depletion of our forests, contributing to global warming. So, we love you wives, girlfriends, mistresses, etc. but this year you will have to suck it up!

Hello Neil did you check out the dollar stores? Cards are considerably lower priced. Don't blame you, I don't like
spending so much money on a greeting card either.

I can not see spending that kind of money either. You buy a card they read it and then later on they throw it away in the trash. You buy flowers and they die. So this year I bought my wife a snow blower. She picked it out.......Matt

Its just a retailers holiday like,Christmas,easter etc etc.
I refuse to celebrate any of them..Give them a massage or pamper them for a day instead of buying material things..I promise they will be more impressed with that
Most of the women in the USA need a gym membership instead of candy anyway

Our families stopped buying those overpriced cards years back. Spending $30 plus dollars for a handful of cards
just to throw them out. I'd rather get a peck on the cheek from my honey & a pack of socks.
