Doug Armstrong's Conservator Handbook now being proofed

I'm hoping to have some copies in hand for the cookout, but may only have a proof copy. Submitted Doug Armstrong's book, "Practical Conservation of Archaeological Objects" to the printer today for a proof. 250 pages and about 110 or so photos. Fully indexed this time, with an appendix on his method of cleaning cobs.

If I can get some delivered to me before the 2nd week in November, I can get some signed, but they will cost more because I have to pay shipping twice: once to me, then once to you. Otherwise they are delivered directly to you from Amazon with no signature.

Donnie L. Hamilton is the professor of conservation at the Institute of Nautical Archaeology at Texas A & M University. He wrote the first manual fo the conservation of artifacts and put it online in 1998. It has since been revised with the latest info and available online FOR FREE at:

Conservation Research Laboratory - Center for Maritime Archaeology and Conservation - Texas A&M University

I downloaded the manual and printed it out for my own use 15 years ago.

No. I don't know why Amazon made that distinction, and they won't let me change it without taking it off the market and going through the initialization process from start to finish.
