Here's a Fishspear Type found by my dad in 1998.

Here's a toothy Kirk from Gainesville, FL. An apparent multi-use tool, it has radial wear as smooth as a marble on the tip.Kirk2.webpKirk2tip.webpdrill2.webpThe other piece came from Horse Lake, Pasco Co, FL and the way the patina formed is indicative of the use of it as a drill.

Here's my two best: one Onondaga Chert, and the other - I suppose - is Jaspar. Both about 2.5 inches long.

Someone just 'liked' this older post of mine, giving me the opportunity to 'fess up. As I studied that 'jaspar' drill again and again, it looked too dark for jaspar, and its form was too unusual. So I began my investigation with a hot soapy water bath and toothbrush scrub. Red dye came off the piece. Then it was all downhill from there. Turns out it was made of clay and dyed red. A clever, maybe not so clever, fake. I acquired it in my early days of collecting....hopefully never to make the same mistake again.

I’m always last to the party, I click it and started at page 5 but better late than never.
That fish spear piece is awesome. Lots and lots of stuff to look at. I’ll catch up.
