The ring and butterfly pin were found in an area where I have been finding predominantly 1800's coins and musket balls - it is also in a modern residential area where I do find things lost yesterday.

All you jewlery experts out there, I could use some guidance in ageing these pieces. My gut tells me Victorian but it may just be wishful thinking.

I'm used to seeing 925 on modern manufactured silver but do not recognize 835 and 800. Anybody recognize the hallmark on the pin?

Oh yeah - The pin was intact but bent when I found it. I broke the fastening pin off trying to straighten it. @#&%(&))(&&R%!!!

appreciate any feedback you care to give.

On the ring I can tell you that 835 is a mark for silver that was used on
European-made pieces. As for a date, all I can surmise is OLD. Maybe late 1800's-early 1900's.
The pin has the old c-type clasp, and would probably be circa 1920's. The 800 is a mark for silver. I am guessing that this is probably Peruvian.

Really nice finds anyway! congrats

Great finds
LOVE the pin ;D

awesome old silver finds!

super great finds and yes it looks like the designs do fit the era, those are in great shape for the age.

I have not seen an "835" before but the 800 is indicative of turn of the century German silver. I would gess that the 835 is also of German origin.

Great Silver finds... Now you have learnt not to try to bend things back that have been in the ground for a long time. Things in the ground lose material, they become porous. Some things can be straighten, but many cannot be. Especially bronze is very difficult. Leave this for the pro's if its a valuable item.... and not valuable, just leave alone.

Forgot to say, it can be easily repaired!

Nice find's OBX.....I too probably couldn't resist on trying to bend it back in shape either.Congrat's on the Silver and HH!!

I got waitresses at the bar that would kill for that brooch. Or at least be nice to me.

OUTSTANDING. I am jealous!

Really nice finds! That ring is really neat.
